Why?

Tuesday, February 2 (Groundhog Day)... 4 p.m.

Back when I was a teenager, getting autographs on baseball cards was a way of life. Me and my best friend Chris used to go to games all the time and try to get cards signed. We also wrote major league players via the team and at home, trying to get cards signed.

I vainly attempted to get the entire 1987 Fleer baseball set autographed when I was 16 to 20 years old.

Today, as a 38 year old, I'm resurrecting my folly...Inspired by this web site.

I may not make it, but it sure might be fun trying. I know many of the players have since passed away or moved out of the country or even flatly refuse to sign. Hopefully, I can still find them. Certainly somebody has one of every player...

In the coming days, I will post a complete list of the cards I already have. The set is in an album, ready to be completed. Here's hoping with a little bit of help from you, my friends on the internet, I can get this done sometime before I turn 50. Or get married. And based on my track record...Oh, never mind. You can read my other blogs for that nonsense...

If you have a card from the set you'd like to either: 1. donate; 2. trade me for; or 3. sell -- let me know. Or if you know of a player who signs that I don't have, let me know how to get it to him...

My e-mail is les_boulez (at) yahoo.com.

May the quest begin....
